MAQUAT
SC18 is characterized as a stearyl dimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride
available in either paste or flake form. SC18 is a high quality, low
color cationic surfactant with excellent substantive properties for
use in personal care formulations, textiles and paper.
Cationic surfactants have a multitude of uses. Use MAQUAT SC18 as
a substantive conditioning agent in Hair Conditioners, as an emulsifier
and emollient in Lotions and Creams. SC18 finds use as a binder in
Paper Production, and an anti-stat and polyester solubilizer in Textile
dyeing and finishing.
MAQUAT SC18 is slightly toxic orally with an LD50 of greater than
1g/kg, and can cause minor skin and severe eye irritation in high
concentrations. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet. MAQUAT SC18 is
available as a 25% solids paste and as an 85% actives flake. SC18-25%
contains 5% stearyl alcohol as an added conditioning agent and for
viscosity control. SC18-85% is shipped as a convenient free flowing
flake that does not contain added stearyl alcohol.
